Ummm...NO.
The only reason the computer prompts you to copy the files is because of the software and the drivers installed on the computer.
An unpowered hard drive is about as usefull as a brick, you can break a window, prop up a chair, use it as an ornament hanging from your rear view mirror, but that's about it.
There are however these very smart little gadgets called "Hyperdrive". They'll let you plug a CF card (or any other memory card) into them and it will copy the contents onto it's internal hard drive, they are about the size of a 3.5" hard drive, have a color screen and come in different capacity (according to budget).
