I really like that last one Denise! Usually, when I happen upon deer in action, all I see is their tails bounding away from me.

Thank you! There are hundreds of deer in this state park and most are too tame. I think it is due to people feeding them when they shouldn't be.

Pat, you've inspired me to post some water-blur shots of my own....thank you.

Shot on the mid-north coast of BC in Bella Coola. There was a huge flood there in Sept 2010 and out company was dispatched to oversee the flood clean-up works. I was lucky enough to have some time to shoot in this BEAUTIFUL part of BC.

This was one of the first water-blur shots I ever attempted. Comments and critiques welcome, of course. The tight shot was intentional.

5DII with 50 f/1.4 @f/11, 0.8s, ISO 50. I think I put my touque on a rock, set the camera down and set mirror lock up and 2 sec timer
Post processing in LR3 (warmed it up quite a bit). I have to say, I am quite addicted to water-blur. I love the contrast between motion and stillness (if that's a word..lol)

Damian - Looks really good. That must have been fast moving water to get that much blur at 0.8 sec exposure. I like that you improvised with no tripod... you have to make due with what you have. I was in Japan this fall and did not bring a tripod, and had to do the same thing to get some sunrise and waterfall shots.

I do like long exposures - the detail really comes out, and if you can get moving water in the shot, I think it just enhances things. I probably over do it, but I enjoy it.

    Thanks for sharing.

Lancer - Nice beach shot. How high up were you when you took that shot?

Thanks Pat! Yes, compared to other streams i've shot this one was fast - water velocity about a meter per sec. Its a high-gradient straight-shot out of a very steep watershed. The surrounding mountains are ~3000m in elevation and feel like they right on top of you. Beautiful place.
