I have never really tried shooting birds before since my longest lens was a 105. Just received my Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD today. After about 20 shots I got one.

I think I am going to like this lens.

Yes, I knew that and often use it---I even had some of the dove in landscape, but I really liked the lighting on this shot even though the comp was lacking---it was also a full frame shot, so no room to crop and adjust.

Bob, sorry for the confusing post and late response( I missed it), my brain was not working properly I guess[:$]

John, with only the 60D, manual focus lens and bad lighting condition(ISO 12800), we certainly see your skills.[][Y]

Joel, really nice shots as usual. the wood packer is my favorite.also
like the colors of the red and blue bird pictures very much!

    Thanks JJ, I wonder what I could do with a 600-800mm L lens.[:^)]

Excelent shots JJ! I especially like the Heron. The lighting is fantastic.

    Keep up the great work,

    John.

Thanks JJ ... have had some interesting birds lately .... some are just passing through on their way back north like these Rose Breasted Grosbeaks .... I get them the first week in May almost every year.
