Yesterday evening I had a couple of hours for myself, and for a change this coincided with really nice weather. I went for a walk along a part of the shoreline where some swan families usually hang around, and they were there yesterday too.

    Very cute Brant.

I am up in the Upper Peninsula this week. The snow melt has really caused some flooding and many swollen streams. Here is one that is usually no more than a trickly.

Perhaps it's the warmth in the air. Perhaps it's the new job. Perhaps it's just seeing my green children didn't die after a long, long, winter, but I have pictures... that aren't of Bella, or the dogs. I can't explain it. Luckily a picture is worth a thousand words, so I don't have to.

Pat...great falls. I think I remember a previous shot and the flow was ~1/4 of that. Great thing about waterfalls, they change each time you go back to them.

David...glad things are thawing out. Great set of spring photos!

A couple more from the U.P.. This a waterfall that usually does not have much more that a trickle (which you can not see), but with the snow run off and flooding, it has a good flow to it. The first one is with a 100-400mm L with a 1.4X-II, the second one is with just the 100-400mm L.

Haven't posted anything in a while...here are some recent shots from a 3 day backpacking trip on the Appalachian Trail in Great Smoky Mountains NP. This was the first week in April. There was still as much as 6-7 inches of snow on the ground at higher elevations. Scenery was still a pretty brown since trees hadn't really started filling in, which was kind of disappointing, but I still got a few good shots.

And a couple shots from Illiniwek Forest Preserve in Hampton, IL. I can't remember where, but I had seen someone post some trail photos like this that I really liked, so I was trying to replicate that. The lens flare was added in Photoshop.

Sorry...a few more. I'm way behind in my sharing

These are from the Chicago Auto Show in February. I found this to be a kind of challenging environment for me. I am used to mostly outdoor photography with very few people around. Trying to take pictures with a million people shuffling by everywhere was kind of flustering. Not to mention I wasn't used to taking pictures in that type of lighting.
