Portrait entry for week #21
This is my mother in law, Juanita, celebrating her 95th birthday on May 18th....amazing!
Pretty good week of photos.

Not an easy go of it making the selections today. In the landscapes we place the cosmos next to nicely done closeups, vistas of rolling hills, well composed beach, and rhythm in the architectural world. The portraits cover tight shots and venture into environmental that tell stories and make us look for answers to our questions.
In the landscapes The Village by jerrytech1 gets the nod. The use of rhythm, strong diagonal of stairs to sun with interrupting lamp post and use of the sun in the image to create flare all made it an image I kept coming back to.
In the portraits I really enjoyed Zuni's Zuniness by Dave Eccleston. It reveals something of Zuni but left me wondering why the cone was on.
Thanks jrw. Zuni does everything "extreme". Perhaps Magda mistakenly gives her Mountain Dew, instead of water. I'm not sure.
In addition to the extreme tongue, attempting to get a few drops of lemonade, she has the cone. That's to stop her licking her leg/armpit raw. She keeps injuring herself (dislocated ribs, muscle issues, etc.) because she's longer than typical (extreme length), heavier than normal (extreme muscle mass), taller than normal (extreme legs) and attempts to do everything as fast as possible (extreme agility). In the end she lands from a jump (or when chasing a frisbee and missing, or when chasing Cagney) and immediately tries to take a hard corner, but her mass, height, and length all work against her, and she ends up hurting herself all over again, and has to spend time doing physio and wearing the cone.
