    btw, what island(s) will you be visiting. I have family on Hawaii. I know lots of local eateries to visit that won't break the bank...you could save the extra money for your tripod!

    We are going to be based on Oahu, but plan on visiting other islands during our stay. Thanks for the info, it is appreciated.

    This started out as a simple request (I thought) for a tripod I could easily pack or hand carry on a plane thatcould support my lens and camera.This was not intended to be my only tripod, just a secondaryfor travel or hiking. Wow, you have all given me so much to think about and arehelpingme makean informed decision. It is greatly appreciated.
