Personally a camera is a tool, just like a scalpel, GIS software, a hammer, etc. Sure better tools help with the final product, but it is the user who wields the experience. Its one of the reasons why I'm not too concerned about my stuff getting chipped and scuffed paint. Tools are meant to be used, not pampered with.
