How much do you think the 1Ds III is over priced?

The 1Ds Mk. III is definitely overpriced by at least $1750. I wouldn't mind if it came down $4500, though. :-)

I speculate, though, another reason Canon did not bring down the price is because they don't want to look bad.


Nikon D3X is now 8k, if 1Ds3 drops more, people would simply tend to think that 1Ds3 is of a lower tier than D3X... Also, given the recent AF incident, it would look like a way of admitting unrescuable design flaw.


I am sure Canon people don't want that


If, however, there is a fullframe 1D4 in near future, I think 1Ds4 would be somewhere around the corner as well. Since only by then, 1Ds3 would "really" not look as good as its price (of course I am not saying it does right now).

Want to get canon to lower the price? Don't buy the 1Ds Mk 3. When a company has a product they cant sell, they eventually lower the price point to where it will sell. Thats why the D3x hasn't been selling all that well, Nikon shooters are boycotting the body until the price comes into more realistic ranges.


If anything is over priced, its canon lenses.
