    Take this approach: The best lens is the one that is currently available. My goodness, if we to a "geez, what if an upgrade is released soon?" approach to all of our gear purchases, we wouldn't have gear at all!



    If you are serious about it and have the funds available, by all means go for the 24-70 L. It is simply awesome and will get the job done. And then a ton.
