    Not quite the same as a pre-order, but last February Amazon kept the rebate price for the 100 L for about 2 weeks past when the rebate should have ended even though they were out of stock and everyone else

    If you shoot birds there are 3 choices that you can go with, they are 500 f/4, 600 f/4 and 800 f/5.6. It doesn't look like you're on a budget so forget about the 400 f/5.6
