Re: Shooting Kids on a Swing (40D)

Nice work! The 2nd one you really nailed the focus - a relaxed yet exciting composition too, if that makes any sense...(!)

Here's a few examples of what I'm trying for - focus-wise. But like I said, these 3 are the hits; there's about 5 or 6 misses for each of these 3 good ones.

Eventually I'll explore adding some motion blur during capture - I assume that means panning with the swing, using a lower shutter speed - but I think I need to practice just getting the focus right first.

Does anyone know if the File Info in PS tells you focus mode? I looked through that huge dialog box but couldn't find it. I think these were all Servo, but I'm not sure. would be nice to know...

Thanks again everyone, for posting your photos and sharing your thoughts.

If you go into ZoomBrowser EX and select the "Preview Mode" tab, then select the picture, the detailed shooting information is shown in a dialogue box on the right hand side. The AF info is included there.

Ah! Thank you - I forgot (and tend to forget) all about ol' Zoom Browser.

    Love the third one.

She looks like she's having a great time, kind of just lounging and floating away....

    I wish i had a big swing.
