Re: Post your best bird shots!
James, your shots are very good. I really like the colors and compostion. A couple of caveats; the tone curve is perfect except the bright highlights, use levels to bring them down a bit, use your lens wide open and blur the background more, they are not bad in this case but in other situations it can be very distracting. Overal great shots.
Jason, your shot isgreat the way it is. Great job.
One from me.

Re: Post your best bird shots!
Nice wood duck pic's....I think they would be even more spectacular taken from alower angle but the exposure looks good and the colors are very nice...well done.
Here's another backyard beauty.......40D, 300mm 2.8 + 1.4 x TC....

Re: Post your best bird shots!
Great shots James - I particularly like the second one. That 70-200 f/4 IS is a really great lens as long as you can get close enough for wildlife. I agree it would be improved with a lower point of view but they're spot on otherwise.
Joel - that'sa fantastic shot also. Just goes to show how well the 1.4x TC retains the quality of photos.
Good stuff guys, Ben.

Re: Post your best bird shots!
Especially if you're fortunate enough to be able to stack that TC onto the back of a 300mm f/2.8! I think I could mock up a TC with playdough and the bottom of a coke bottle and it would look good through that lens.

Re: Post your best bird shots!
I'm not a birder by any stretch of the imagination, but I do check on this thread periodically, and I just want to say that so many people's photos have blown me away. There are too many to list, but to all of you, fantastic work! I'm seeing alot more great shots recently that capture my attention and look amazing.
So, big props to all of you! Keep up the amazing work!

Re: Post your best bird shots!
Now you're talkin' !! The angle is much better, the only thing with this particular shot is the birds head angle isn't parallel to the camera and his eye looks funky because it's partially closed, the effect of being down on the bird's level is a much better composition IMHO.
