Thanks Pat, incredible improvement in my daughters condition in just two weeks. She will be wearing a spinal brace for at least 3 months, but is looking forward to a slow recovery. She is one very lucky lady, the young are resiliant.
Thank you all for your concern and best wishes.

Steve...I am glad to hear that there is a lot of improvement in your daughters conditions. Great news!
Pat. Agreed. Thanks for the well thought out post. I love shots with fog, just not usually mine. I'll try some of the tips. Honestly, I never would have thought to use a CPL. I'll give it a try next time.
Steph---classic capture. Really great.
Steve, glad to hear that, I'll keep my fingers crossed

Went downtown with my dog tonight to try to get some decent shots, including some "road" shots. Brought my 50/1.8 and my 10-22. I learned a few things tonight. The 50/1.8 really sucks for lens flare, making it almost useless for night photography within the city. Also I learned that going out for 3 hours to take a few photos is a lot more tolerable when it isn't below freezing like tonight. I didn't get any keepers with the 50, but I managed to get a couple decent ones with the 10-22. I really wish I had a halfway decent tripod, but this cheapo one I am borrowing is better than nothing.

Eric, nice shots, I like the first one.
How did the dog hold up? My dog learned to sit and wait when I fiddle with the camera most of the time, but every now and then he will pull on the leash. Even a Chihuahua size dog like him is enough to cause significant camera shake ...
