from last trip to zoo...
Very nice pics Colin... the last one with the mother Tiger sleeping hasperfect DOF (my fav). The bats drinking blood(besides being creepy) also has perfect bokeh and verycaptivating. Great job.
Although not my favorite shot of that day its the one I was most surprised to see when I was reviewing.
Despite using 70-200 2.8L all day this was actually caught using my 50 1.4 at 1/1600 ona 400D. The piece of horse meat looks even more detailed at 100%

That's an awesome meat toss!
Think he'd do it again with some strobes and a nice white background? []
Regardless, way cool.
Some really nice shots posted []
Here's a couple of shots I took at the zoo
Canon 5DMII, 30D 17-40 L f/4.0, 24-70L f2.8, 70-200L IS f2.8, 400L f4.0-5.6, 24 tilt shift, 2x 600ex-RT
killer tiger. What'd you do, throw things at him?
Cool eyes on the zebra.

here are several from the San Diego zoo in June. All taken with
5Dll and 70-200 f4IS. The tiger, leopard, and gorilla were all taken
through the 1" plate glass that they have for up close viewing. That's my 2 yr old leaning in for a hug to the leopard.

Lemur taken with 400D, 75-300. 1/400, f6.3, ISO400. When I think back, it was this trip to Dublin Zoo that decided I needed to upgrade to L glass. Too many shots were soft and lacking contrast.
