This actually had me thinking....for the investment in gear...I may need to focus on the investment in putting myself in the right place at right time. In this case, Northern Idaho the first week of January for eagles.[/QUOTE]+1 I am wanting to go to Alaska on a Bald Eagle photo trip

    Joel,

Go as far as west as St Louis and there may be opportunities for bald eagles.

    Thanks.

I do not think it is light polution. Lake Michigan is 70-80 miles accross at that point, and there really are no cities on the other side. I think it was sun light still reflecting off the horrizon (it was between 9:30 & 10:00 PM EST). I usually have to get well past midnight this time of year to get ride of the suns influence.

True...lock 13 is prob less than 9 hours from me. I have looked at that area in the past. Alaska is much further and more expensive but offers the best chances for multiple close encounters. Actually I could do both

It's been quite a while since I've been on the site....just returned from a trip to Costa Rica and thought I would post some of the greatest hits. All my shots were with the EF 24-105L or EF 70-300L with either the 6D or 7D. Better Beamer came in handy a few times too. Thanks for viewing!

Thanks Brant and Mark. The sunset shots were taken from a sailboat. I couldn't believe the other sailboat happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Costa Rica is amazing. I spent a week in the far northwest and there's so much more to do. Guess I will have to go back!

Brian, those are some great shots. I am a big fan of the sailboat sunset shot also. As for parenting, I would do the same thing. You don't get that opportunity everyday. Looks like it was an awesome trip!
