Nice images Andy....they are unusual species for sure. I like the flock of Terns and the Puffin best!

Thanks everyone,
yes I was close, maybe 30 feet away in a row boat. Uncropped version is here. Makes me wonder what Joel or Bob or Denise could shoot there.
Some other pictures I even took sitting comfortably on a park bench. Downside of these parks is, that you almost all the time have humans in the background, see here and here.

Arnt, I looked at your flicker page, you got several really cool pics. The one of the Tern in front of the colorful sail is cool. You can tell from your images that the birds there are very accustomed to humans. Great location for getting close but, as you said, the challenge is to get a good background.
Thanks Joel,
well, if you like it, I think it qualifies for being posted :-)

Maybe I overdogded the bird a bit. I also wasn't sure if I like the cropped or uncropped version better. And yes, most pictures have some humans in the background. Unless one wants that as a theme ("Urban wildlife"), it is a challenge.
If you want undisturbed backgrounds, the bay wetlands are just around the corner, but then the 85 will certainly not cut it.
