    I like the pose, Eric. I wonder if the squirrel species is different in Maryland than northern Illinois? Was the guy you photographed kind of small?

    This is right under our bird feeder, so they all have the same pose . Here is one from March 2012, he looks slightly larger than the first. Different lens, but the feeder poles look close in size between the two.

    Easter Gray Squirrel is what we have here. I think they can get to 20 inches (with tail) and 1.5 pounds.

    I struggled to get a clear shot of this red squirrel high up in a pine tree. It eventually plucked up the courage to come down to ground level just a few feet in front of me.
