It's 32 degrees here in NY and the Sky looks pretty clear so far. I live on the beach so I have a very clear shot.

I'm going to use my 7D with the 300mm f/2.8 with 2x extender just as above.

    OK, here's my first shot:

    7D 300mm f/2.8L, 2X extender @600mm, f/6.3, 1/800sec, ISO 100

How am I doing? Do I need to make any changes?

Well, It looks like a wash for me--Clouds, Clouds, Clouds. I really wanted to do the timedinterval shots, but the weather isn't cooperating in NM. But I am going to stay up anyway just to see if there is enough break in the cloud cover to get some single shots.

@DLS,if you are interested and have time to plan a sequence shot, keep this in mind, the moon moves at 15 degrees per hour and it's own diameter about every two minutes at 50mm(uncropped), you have about a 49 degree field of view and at 100MM (uncropped) you have about 23 degree field of view---You can do the math from there. I have been wrestling with these numbers for two hours and almost had a plan until I took another look outside---!@#$%^&*(()(.

So, 100mm might not be bad--you could get 12-15 shots and layer them together.

    Good luck to all,

    Bob

Rich, your exposure looks pretty good, but keep in mind that the moon will get darker during the eclipse---be prepared to make exposure adjustments.
