Americo, was it your intent in a portrait you chose to upload to a 'post your best' thread to have the face of what presumably is the subject of your portrait - your wife - outside of the thin f/1.4 depth of field and thus blurry (with the exception of part of her jacket), as well as overexposed? Or have I missed the point, and your intended subject is instead the text and paw prints on the fabric (shirt? towel?) hanging by the mirror, which is in focus and properly exposed?

@neuro, Ahem...
@Sean, uh sure dude i changed my name since it reflected me as a whole and not as a part. The last i recall this was a forum,and free country if you reside in America, that is,so hence name changed as you noted in your edit. Please do not add the And why part, it appears as if it is a pesonal attack forum,and not an actual forum.

This one is a wonderful shot with the subject in crisp focus, captures a great expression and moment, excellent subject isolation - just what a great portrait should have, IMO. Unfortunately, I didn't see any of those elements in the other pictures you posted then pulled.
I got my 50 f1.4 back from repair. This is my first attempt at this lighting setup. It is night time so all the light is from strobes. I have two Sunpak 120j outside. One in umbrella and one in soft-box. Inside I have a Vivitar 285 in a beauty dish for fill. Black was not a good choice here. Her belly does not show off very well.

Sorry Dr., There I go behaving like an badly raised child again I do really apologize sincerely for my "temper tantrum" and poorly thought out replies I am very sensitive at times sadly, but I will try harder to breathe first then reply! You know I am having a real hard time taking decent enough hand held photos with this lens! Man I miss the good ol trusty 135L! Well as the wife always tells me, the grass isn't always greener on the other side! I am in the process of getting a decent manfrotto tripod to solve some of my problematic shaky photos! That photo above was just by pure chance with the awesome 135 L! My wife was outback getting the BBQ grill to wash before we headed out to some dinner at our favorite sushi place thats when i glanced over and saw how the light just fell on here beauty fantastically so i grabbed the 40d and 135mm f/2 L and shot away from our door step some without her knowledge some after,and presto some very neat photos! Thanks again neuroanatomist for your replies, and I humbly apologize for my behavior Sincerely, Americo Salazar .Rodriguez. (Brujo)(Capitalist)Garza!
@Mark(Clemmb) This is a fantastic photo of what I presume is your wife,and future child,I hope? That 50 1.4 works very nicely,and now i know what i have been missing! I was actually thinking of getting the 50 1.4 and staying with the 135mm L before going with the 35l! I was thinking of either that combo, or even the 85mm 1.8 and the 135L only based on the reviews and specs, but at the end i wanted wider so i tried to get the elder 14mm despite the reviews, or even the 17-40 l but i stayed with the 35mm f/1.4! i think still that i should have went to the 17-40 for wides and the 85mm for its sharpness or event he awesome 100mm macro again! sorry for the rants! i was trying to get an understanding of things!
Another attempt at portraiture.
