    Thanks, Joel!

After seeing Jayson's wonderful snowflake shots, I wanted to find a smooth, dark background free from the fibers found on gloves or mittens. Joel, I know that you often have lovely backgrounds that are 'free' - forest, field, etc, but I spare no expense for my hobby. Accordingly, the smooth, dark background for my snowflake shots cost over $30,000.

In all fairness, I should point out that this particular background just might have a few other uses, such as transporting three kids in their car seats.

I just brushed off the glass, waited for attractive snowflakes to land on it, and shot the pictures (handheld) before they slid down off the glass.

Here is a new snowflake from the most recent storm. I sure wish it wasn't so dry. I only had about an hour of shooting before the snowflakes weren't recognizable. I took John's advice and tried a better background. This is a 12 shot stack.

A little too much moisture on the latest round of flakes. Ever wonder what those ice pellets look like up close?

What was your process for capturing and stacking the images?
