Haven't done much beside photograph the little dudes for the last week due to the family vacation, but did snag a couple flowers while one was a sleep and the others were waiting in line.

All shot with a point and shoot. Next time I am bringing the big guy.

Awesome, Joel. What f stop did you use? You managed to keep a lot of the damselfly in focus!

Thanks, here is the exif data

    focal length 252mm
    ISO 800
    1/1600
    f/5.0

Not a very high f ratio ... must have been lucky that the whole insect lined up just right!

@Jason, Great set, I especially love the 2nd one!

@Joel: Cool shot Joel! I love that detail over the creamy background, and the color saturation looks spot on!

    Awesome shot!

That's awesome, especially for f/5 and a TC!

New spider in the basement window, but not as colorful as last year. It was a good chance to compare a macro lens with extension tubes. Summing up, the macro lens gives more magnification but seems softer. The extension tube (Canon EF 25mm + 70-200 f/2.8L IS II) doesn't magnify as much but seems slightly sharper -- it's a pain to use though. With the narrow field of focus, it felt like I was focusing with the zoom ring.

All shots are handheld, but I had the front of the lens touching the window.

    50D 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II + EF 25mm tube

After all the fiddling with the flash, I prefer the ambient light shot I got earlier with the macro lens.

Juvenile toad from today. I spotted it while mowing the lawn... almost mowed him over.
