Scott Falls is not the most spectacular water fall in the U.P. (Michigan), but still one of my favorites.

It's great to see a few new members sharing their pictures here. Welcome all.
Also good to see the usual suspects - that's a cute koala pic, Steve. One tip for next time, when shooting a backlit subject, is to dial in some exposure compensation, or use spot-metering on the subject. The bear is a little dark due to the bright sky behind it. It might help to push the ISO up too, to get a hand-holdable shutter speed with a brighter exposure. I hope things get back to normal for you and the wildlife as soon as possible.
Thanks, Denise. While I was up there, I also did a 21-frame panorama at 70mm. At over 30,000 pixels wide, it is a little too big for this forum, but the detail in the scene is amazing. The 5D II sure is hard to beat for landscapes like that.Originally Posted by ddt0725
The weather here has been awful, so I have to be content with my shots from last year. Here is another from the same trip. It was taken after 10pm in mid summer, looking towards the Cuillin Mountains on the Isle of Skye. The "UFO" is a lenticular cloud, so called because it is shaped like a lens, which is kind of appropriate for this forum, don't you think?

Thanks for the insight Andy, will have another go today.
BTW, I think I can see someone waving at us from your nice UFO photo.

The original is too big even for flickr, and it is less than 100 pixels high when downsized so it loses the impact. But in case you doubt me, I've just re-done it as two images.Originally Posted by Fast Glass
