A question on flash diffuser
Is there a difference between buying a brand Sto-Fen vs a knock off (probably a Sto-Fen clone) for my 580 EX II? I saw a cheap knock off for the 580 EX II (three heads, white, gold and blue) and costs half as much as a single Sto-Fen.
What would be a possible problem by using them? Melting perhaps to heat (rapid flash firing)?

I don't actually own a Sto-Fen or a knock off, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy the knock off, especially on something so simple as molded plastic.

Thanks. I might get it soon. I just want to ask it anyway. []

There are many ways to make diffusers, I have even used a dryer sheet in a pinch.
The thing you have to consider is the 'fit' Most of these diffusers are cheap so you can look around.
Personally I use a Gary Fong. Check these out.

I have a knock off. Don't remember the brand off hand. Love it.

I have the Sto-Fen and doesn't seem to be much rocket science to it so I'm sure a knock off would be fine.
I actually like the Gary Fong's results better but it is very clumsy and doesn't stay on very well. If I'm in a crowded place where I'm getting bumped into, I will take the Sto-Fen. if I'm in a mellow spot I'll use the Gary Fong.
