I just ordered one to replace my aging HP B9180. This is a heck of a deal for a printer like this!
Is the rebate valid in Canada? I took a quick read of the rebate form and it says that the offer is good in the 50 United States the District of Colombia and Puerto Rico. Not sure if anyone has redeemed one of these rebates in Canada??

Do they give you full cartridges?
When I got mine a few years back the ink cartridges were not full. They sell the printer so cheap because they make it up with ink sells.
I'm not sure. I know most manufacturers use a small sample ink cartridge on cheap consumer printers. I'm not sure if Canon plays that game on a semi-pro printer... though this particular model *is* often heavily discounted and pretty much given away, so maybe.

Stephen, you might have to wait for a Canadian deal, most US mail-in rebates are not valid in Canada. I picked one up a few years back. It was likely a bundle deal with my 7D2 or something. I don't recall.

I bought a Pro-1000 ~12 months ago, and later bought a full ink pack as some of my cartridges were running low. Just last week when doing a bunch of prints, I brought up the printer "application" dialog to view the ink levels, and I clearly saw that the ink cartridges that were nearly empty (i.e. the ones I hadn't yet replaced) all said <SETUP> at the end of their product names, but the ones that were nearly full (the ones I had replaced from the ink pack I bought) didn't say <SETUP>. Hence, my research suggests they sell the printer without full ink cartridges.
We're a Canon/Profoto family: five cameras, sixteen lenses, fifteen Profoto lights, too many modifiers.
Not only do they sell with low ink they give you paper so you will continue to buy ink.
I wish oil companies would adopt this model. Give away cars so we have to buy gas.
