    Strobist / Flash Fill

    Just a few from the recent archives, single OC flash, 24-105.

    Put a local to work to get that flash way off camera:

    That's daylight back there... 100mm f/2.8 1/8000th iso 50

    Local shaper Greg Sauritch walked right into my strobes!

    And finally a head shot of my assistant & fellow photog;

    I must admit I find the headshot to be (by far) the best of the images. The surfer does indeed need more light on him...the flower shot would have probably been better if you had balanced your strobes (shot with less power) with the ambient. And I think the shot of your assistant in the watch tower would have been really cool if he had pointed the flash at himself (or maybe the roof of the hut overhang) and it had gone off (of course, it also would have needed to have been gelled to closely match the warmth of the sunlight).

    The surfer walked into a setup for the fenials, so to suggest more fill is out of context really, and now that Todd Ovik has seen fit to (over) edit my image... well I'll just have to bite my tounge and move on.
