So I finally got fed up with not having any editing software on my fancy new desktop (I misplaced my DPP cd) and bought LR3. Is there any way to mess with in camera settings if I'm editing RAW in here?

Unfortunately, no. At this time, and for the foreseeable future, none of the in-camera picture profile settings (contrast, saturation, sharpening, color tone) are interpreted by Adobe. Many of the other camera settings are ignored as well, including Automatic Lighting Optimizer and Noise Reduction. As far as I know, the only metadata that Adobe uses is white balance and Highlight Tone Priority (HTP).
