The 1d3 is not discontinued. Perhaps what you meant to say is that it will be discontinued in the near future. Canon does not discontinue anything until long after the new model has come out and all the old stock is cleared out.

I asked about a waiting list for a potential 1D MK IV today and was told, "No announcement is immenent." The 5D MKII was rumored to be"a month away" for two years.
I got a brand new 1D MIII 2 months ago with the yellow dot....the price had just dropped to $2900 in Asia....I am so happy with the performance of the camera for sports. I still use the 5D MII for landscapes and portraits but the feel of a 1D series in my hands is bliss.
