Smile 7D II movies..and where they are captured

I wasn't sure how to title this thread.

My 7DII has two cards: both have a write speed of (minimum) 45 Mb/s (Lexars, 64 Gb). The CF is a UDMA-7, the SD is an SDXC.

I've got the camera set to "record multiple," and both cards are set to record raw.

When I record movies, only the CF card has the movies on them.

When I first removed the SD card, I didn't see the movies, and panicked. After examining the CF card, there they were.

I've combed over the manual, and can't find anything that indicates anything, other than when I tell both cards to "record multiple," it says that both cards will record duplicate images. It says images, but doesn't say movies.

Shouldn't both cards record movies, as well as images?

    I'm all ears....

Interesting... and, apparently, documented. Download the full manual (the paper one isn't the full manual). P 147. I'd copy paste what is says, except Canon has marked the PDF as non copy-pastable. Paraphrasing, it won't do both in movie mode, and will use whichever card is set for playback.

Thanks, David. Yes, I was looking at the paper manual.

I wish they (Canon) would allow both cards to record all information. Drat.

I ran into the same issue (sort of) when shooting my last wedding. I thought I had the playback set for the CF card (like the rest of the cameras I was using) but didn't. I thought I was missing a bunch of video clips until I realized they were on the SD card. :-)
