Thank you EdN! I used a 1000D and it's beloved kit lens. It's all that I have. Just trying to maximize it's capabilities so to speak. [] I did a little dpp + photoshop + sharpening + cropping... viola!

No tripod. Hand-held only as I was chasing this fliers around the newly cut lawn and I needed to change positions quickly and the tripod would be a hindrance though I could have used a small one.


Umm.. I got pretty close to them to get a close-up shot as I was using only a kit lens (18-55). I'd would repeatedly sneak and crawl towards them. [] Had fun chasing them though. []


The little scratches on my knees and elbows were worth it I think. []

fantastic photos of dragonflies. Good contrast and colors. here is a photo of a dragonfly flying!! took me about 10 tries with a original 5d and 70-200 f4IS at f4@1/1000th. it is a about a 90% crop from the original
