Two things: take the photo as close to 3 P.M. as possible if 3-5 is your window. Any later - especially close to 5 P.M. and in Florida this time of year - and your victims will be looking pretty much right into the sun.


Also, if possible try to arrange the people so they fit into an appropriate framing for 8x10 in case people want prints (I once made the mistake of having the group too wide and, while 5x7 was perfect, 8x10 nearly cut the arms off the folks on the edges.
