    Canon 30d question

I have a canon 30d. Can I use non EF-S lenses? I was told I could use them but the crop factor would be different because the other lens isn't EF-S. Can anyone help me with this issue? I'm looking at buying a 50mm 1.2 or 1.4/f lens.

    Welcome to the forums!

You'll be fine with an EF mount lens

I have a 20D and use mostly EF lenses. Crop factor isn't different at all. you still take the focal length and multiply by 1.6.

EF-S lenses have something to do with the optics being closer to the insides of the camera. (Other people on this site can tell you the specifics, but that's all I know haha).

A 50mm lens will simply be 80mm FF equivalent on a 1.6 crop body.
