    500 f/4 Lens Hood

I have a 500 f/4L IS and I shoot handhold. During a long shoot I tend to set my lens hood first on the ground, and the ground can be wooden boardwalk to gravel to congrete. Over the time I see straches and dings on the rubber-front end of the hood. Is there any way to to protect this area of the hood? Thanks for the answer.

I would try some black electrical tape to cover it in orget some black 1/4 or 3/8 inch water tubing and split and then slip it over the edge. Just some thoughts.

    Nate,

Try some gaffers' tape. It is like electrical tape, but tough cloth instead of vinyl.

I would personally, if I had a 500 f/4, use a 100% silk pillow cover filled with the petals of roses, but that's just me.
