welcome Ken!
I don't shoot landscape a lot, so no critique here. just want to say I like this picture very much! I used to go fishing a lot(salt water). this picture reminds me those happy time.
if I have to say something about this picture, I would say I like the color very much, and I'm surprised that the sharpness didn't get effect a lot since you used f36, and maybe, if I were you, would cut off a little bit foreground(seems a little bit too much rocks).

Here is a link to what I am talking about, http://www.juzaphoto.com/eng/articles/judging_image_quality_photos_web.htm.
John.
thanks John for pointing that out. and I think I know what you are talking about. what I was surprised is that because the DLA of 7D is only f6.8, and Can used f36(not sure that lens can go that small aperture, maybe f3.6, no there is no f3.6, only f3.5). I have tried f22 on my 7D, the IQ(sharpness) got effect a lot even though I downsized to 800Pix and resharpen it. then again it could be other things cause the softness of my pictures.I really don't have a lot of idea about those tech stuffs John, I was just wondering...
I'd probably use closer to f/16-f/22... I like the photo though
Maine isa very nice place from what I have seen/heard!
ps, also noticed a little sensor dust near the top right of the boats mast(?) on the left

If you still don't get good results you might not be using the right un-sharpmask setting. And if you still can't get good results then your image was indeed EXTREMELY soft! Possibly because of motion blur.
John.

I didn't sharpen the picture, although I almost always do. I kind of liked the soft, 1930's postcard look.
This is a sharpen version of the photo.
