Nice salamander...Pseudotriton ruber (Northern Red Salamander). Looks like a fat female that was looking for a place to nest.

Bryan, Thanks for the review--, I am looking forward to part two. With both yours and Roger's reviews, I am once again looking wantingly at my credit card and the B&H website. I had the 24-105 for a couple of years but was never very happy with it---(my copy lacked sharpness); But ever since I sold it, my kit has been lacking and I have definitely missed that focal range. Now that the new 24-70 is out It looks like that may be my next lens.

Had a play with the new 24-70mm last night (not mine, a friend's). It's nice, definitely sharper than the version 1 but it probably wouldn't be enough of a change for me to upgrade from my version 1.
Thanks for the review Bryan. Let's hope the QC/QA issues are a one off.
