<p class="MsoNormal"]I’m relatively new to panorama photography and I would like
know if there is any size ratio standard in panorama pictures. <span>I have been putting images together in
Photoshop (or the Photoshop has been putting together for me I have to say) but
I always struggle to decide what size I should crop the image. <span>I understand that it is personal preference in
lot of cases but I was thinking that there must be some standard. I have put
some of my panoramas bellow and I would appreciate if anybody will make
comments, suggestions or criticism. As I said I’m new to this and I need to
learn to get any better.

David Noton, who I consider the king of panoramas uses a Fuji617 film camera, which is 6x17cm format. His panoramas are of about 3:1 ratio. I am guessing here, maybethe ratiohelps to use or brake the rule of thirds?

I find your panoramas very well composed.As far as post processing goes, Iwould probably play with shadow/highlight setting in the first photograph,try to boost the contrast in the second one and leave the third one alone, butagain, it ispersonal preference.

I like #3 best. Also, it helps to shoot with the horizon dead center then crop to rule of thirds after stiching. I have done a few with the camera in portrait which lends itself to a higher resolution crop.

I think it is whatever it ends up being.

I use Microsoft ICE http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/redmond/groups/ivm/ICE/It's unknown and free. One of the best stitching programs I've ever used. As good if not better results than PTGUI. It's a breeze to use, just drop and drag.

Her's a recent one I took of a storm wall rolling onto the beach at Hilton Head Island, SC.At only800 pixels wide it's not much to look at. The original is 14659 x 2285 and is a stitch of 9 handheld images from my 5D with 17-35 f2.8L @ 35mm. Ratio is aprox. 13:2
