Stuff You Can't Do (Shooting Sports with the 5D MKII and the 2x Extender)

I was shooting softball this morning with the 5D MKII andthe 2x Extender in front of the EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM. As I've mentioned, this combination works well for enlargements to 8x10 or the newspaper. This is actually a crop across an image that was shot with the camera oriented vertically. I read a lot about howbad the image quality is with the extender and how the 5D AF performance and frame rate won't work for sports. The 1D MKII and the EF400F/2.8 enjoyed the day off...
