    canon ef200 f2.8 mk2

By the end of the month I consider to buy that lens. It will replace a ef100-300 f4.5-5.6 that I found to use nearly all the time at around 200mm anyway.

I was wondering if anyone who own that lens could give me some advice. Like what about the dof of f2.8 at 200mm, how thin is it? Does this lens suffer chromatic aberation on high luminous contrast on a apsc body ? (I have a 40d) Or do you have any general advice I should consider before investing that much money on a lens?

Also I'm aware of thoses 70-200 and that it lack IS, but I dont really care about that.

    Thank you

The 200mm f/2.8L II USM is a wonderful lens - excellent image quality, inconspicuous (it's the longest focal length black lens made by Canon). For portraits, DoF at 200mm f/2.8 is very thin, and the lens has very pleasing bokeh. If you want 200mm, don't need IS, and can live without the flexibility of the zoom, that's the lens to get. There are two lenses with better IQ at 200mm than the EF 200mm f/2.8L II prime - the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II zoom and the 200mm f/2L prime. The200mm f/2.8L II costs less than 1/4 what the zoom costs, and less than 1/8 what the 200mm f/2L costs.

I had one, really liked it, and sold it (today!!) only because I recently bought the EF 70-200mm f/2.8<span style="color: red;"]L IS II.
