    RAW files and noise reduction...

    Hi every one,

The other day I noticed that my max. burst on my 40D was 6 images and what I saw in the specs was around 17.
I found out that the custom function II-2 Noise reduction High ISO was activated and this was limiting the max. burst.

My question is when shooting in RAW does this noise reduction CF affect the output in the RAW?

I use Lightroom for my post processing. Does the Noise reduction in the camera do a better job than what LR can do?

    Thanks,

    André

No. However, there are other CF settings that do affect the raw (e.g. "long exposure noise reduction", but only during long exposures).

    No, LR is significantly better.

The reason the camera slows down even in raw mode is that it still has to generate the jpeg previews that are embedded in the raw file.
