    Publishing an eBook

Has anyone done this? I have reviewed a dozen or so e-publishing sites over the past couple of days and they all seem to incorporate some kind of fee or catch. I was basically looking to make a book to distribute to family members to look at on their iPads and Kindles, and hopefully doing it for free. I have tried inDesign with no luck and was thinking of Blurb, but didn't want to pay for a print book before they'd publish to ePub format. Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

If it is for family, why ebook and not just a PDF?

I have the PDF already, but I would like it to turn like a regular eBook. Viewing the PDF is more like viewing a slideshow. I was hoping it would be like their books they are reading on that their digital tablets now. Plus, I have always liked the look of an eBook.
