Weight (g) Needed for LP-E5 Battery...

Does anyone here have a Rebel XS, XSi, or T1i (1000D, 450D, or 500D) and an accurate, small scale?

I need to know the weight of the battery, the LP-E5. If someone could let me know what that is, I'd appreciate it. :-)

Unfortunately, no, the T3i uses an LP-E8 battery. I need the weight of the LP-E5 instead. They're probably pretty close, though.

If you would, go ahead and measure it for me - that should give me at least some idea of what the battery should weigh.

    lol....no, nothing that interesting

I'm needing to update/verify camera weights for the listed values we have on this site. We pulled them from Canon originally. However, Canon switched from "Body Only" weights to publishing the CIPA standard weights (which include the battery and memory card). So right now, we don't have an apples-to-apples comparison for some of the camera bodies (as some weights shown include the battery and memory card, while others do not).

We've decided to publish weights based on the CIPA standards (with battery and memory card). I've managed to verify or recalculate all of the other cameras we have weights for except for the cameras that have the LP-E5 battery. I need the battery's weight so that I can add it to the body + memory card weight to find arrive at the correct standard weight.

Amazon has it listed at 1.6 oz as the item weight in their adverts

Good find! That translates to 45.4 grams, which is around what I was expecting.

I swear I thought I looked at Amazon, but I missed it. Thanks you!

Alright, I was able to locate four batteries (two cameras and two spare batteries)

    Results:
    1.660 oz
    1.660 oz
    1.655 oz
    1.660 oz

I also went ahead and measured a couple SD cards
    Lexar Professional 16GB 400x
    0.065oz

SanDisk Ultra 4 GB Class 4
    0.060oz

I also measured the Xs camera strap for the two cameras
    1.885 oz
    1.865 oz
