Filters for B&W

Would like to discuss filters used for black and white photography.

Do most of you use post production software or prefer a specific type of filter is planning on a B&W shoot.

If you use a filter, what, when and why?

I convert in post. But I would also like to know what filters others are using. I would much rather get it right in the camera that sit at a computer.

Post production. I really like B&W shots and post them fairly often, but am not that skilled. I just adjust until I like the look.

I rarely shoot for B&W, mostly because I feel that I don't have the right skills and/or tools to do a "good" B&W conversion. If/once I do, I suspect I'd look for some of these filters to enhance the data capture in the interest of maximizing the creative post work, but that's rather low on my wishlist.

I use DxO Filmpack, and just fiddle with film, filters, etc., to get the look I want for a particular conversion.
