    Canon 24-105mm

    Hi All!

Usually I like to take aviation pictures and today I have a Canon EF 300mm L and a 70-300mm L on my photo gear. Sometimes, I would like to have a good lens with a lower focal range than 70mm, because I use those lens in a Canon 7D (1.6x crop factor).

I'm thinking to buy a Canon 24-105mm to complete my photo gear and would like to know what you guys think about this lens or if you can give me another option, considering my needs and my usually photographed subject.

    Thanks,

    Marcio

hi,as a 24-105mm user I cant say i recommend this lens.I am using it on a 5dmk2 and I am not very happy with it.I have had the chance to use the combination 24-105+7D and is even worse, not sharp enough in my opinion (could be the 7D

The 24-105mm is not that sharp on a 1.6 camera, take a look at Juza

I think the 15-85 would be a better complement to the 70-300 L than the 24-105.

I agree. Both the 15-85mm and the 17-55mm should be worth considering. Both great lenses. Take a look at the specs and see what would fit? If you're worried about them not being "L" lenses, don't. It's universally accepted that they have L quality sharpness, contrast, colors, etc. They even have a couple of L lens glass elements in them. I would highly recommend checking the "reviews" section on this site. They are very in depth.
Adobe, give us courage to edit what photos must be altered, serenity to delete what cannot be helped, and the insight to know the one from the other.

I really recommend the 17-55 f/2.8 for a general use lens. The 15-85 has a more versatile focal range, but personally I really like being able to zoom without changing my aperture. I also do a fair amount of indoor photography where an f/2.8 zoomhelps. The 70-300 you own changes by 1 stop across its focal length whereas the 15-85 changes by 2 stops. If that's something you haven't noticed or don't care about, the 15-85 might be for you. It's also significantly cheaper than the 17-55.

    Hi everyone,

    Great... I will consider buying a 17-55mm or a 15-85mm instead of 24-105mm.

    Thanks.
