First DSLR Outing!

Hello all, I have posted here once before a few weeks ago in an attempt to get some help deciding what DSLR camera to purchase... with help from here and from much researching I ended up going with a Nikon D5100 *gasp* w/ 18-55mm and 55-300mm lenses.


Anyways, I took the camera out for the first time today, just around the house due to the nasty weather. These shots were all taken w/ the 18-55mm lens as the 55-300mm is on backorder. The settings were varied from shot to shot, here are they are roughly... F/5.6-F/8, SS 1/15-1/250, ISO 100-400 (I know thats some serious variation but i didnt want to write it down for each image) Some shots were handheld and some were taken w/ a tripod.


Any comments, suggestions, or kind criticism is much appreciated!

That explains a lot! Well first off I would recomend you to delet the link to Ken Rockwell, there are some stuff that is correct but so much of it is just plain garbage! Especially his opnion on lenses, camera bodies and just about everything else! Read the recomendations on this site and of www.juzaphoto.com, both are excelent and will help you tremendosly. Also read the lens recomendations pages on both sites.

Orangejuice, these pictures are too good to be taken by a newbie with a 18-55mm lens[Y], honestly I don't believe that, if it's true, i think i should switch to Nikon[]


BTW, I downloaded one of your picture and checked it in CS5, it didn't show any information about your camera and lens, is there any other way to show that?


PS, I checked my own picture posted in this forum, It doesn't show any information too. hm... I am seriously considering about Nikon now!
