Lens Rentals Review of the 24-70 II

I clicked on the link Bryan provided in his "News" to the initial review by Roger at Lensrentals of the 24-70 II.

    http://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2012...solution-tests

I know it is wrong to covet....but I am not sure I can help myself here. Sharper at 70 mm than the 70-200 II. Sharper at 24 mm than the TS-E 24.

It is still early and it is ony 1 review. But...wow.

It is the performance the MTF charts promised. It looks like it may deliver. This is good news.
The wide primes might still be the better choice because of distortion for landscapes, but it looks like a choice I will get to figure out.
I sold my 24x70 months ago when this was announced. I am going to order one, I was going to wait a few weeks to see if any bugs pop up first. I just don't know how long I can hold out.

I thought about this a minute, thinking about all the excuses I would have to not buy the lens.

Then it occurred to me, you were talking about my excuses to buy the lens.

    I appreciate the support

Impressive, most impressive. Resistance is futile. Insert your sci-fi truism of choice.

It will be the next lens I order.

Now that the 24-70 II is as sharp as the 70-200 II all they need is a 14-24 f/2.8 every bit as sharp as the other two, to completely the holy trinity of 14-24, 24-70, 70-200.
(or the holy quadrangle, when the 200-400 gets released)
An awful lot of electrons were terribly inconvenienced in the making of this post.

Dr, don't we already have the holy quadrangle the 8x15, 16x35 II, 24x70 II and the 70x200 II
