    Veeeerrrryyyyyy slow writing time on my 5D mkI "first version 5D" ?



    Hi People


    I am full time pro photographer from europe and since I bought my 5D mkI in NY B&H, it has the slowest writing time I have ever seen on any other Canon 5D mkI .


    My memory cards are CF EXTREME 8 Gb x 1, 4 Gb x 3 with 30mb/s wt and all perform very slow...


    My Canon 1ds III write slow but it's because of writing RAW+JPG on CF card in same time, and that's allright but 5D...


    My 5D write so long I mean long like 2 sec.


    I have changed all Custum functions and still nothing. My LCD preview looks like "previewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww..."


    Anyone, please... I am very thankfull for any serious advice, since Canon (south) Europe realy su_s

    How fast are your cards? a maximum of 300x might be necessary to record high qualitiy files to a card at a fast rate.

    Thank You for Your question? I use CF, Extreeme III cards. But I have already tested my 5D against the other two 5D's from my friends with


    the same cards.


    Unfortunately, my 5D needs two extra seconds against the other two 5D's to write last capture I've made.


    That's realy annoying when comes time to catch the moment, but You've just spend Your precious klik on non so relevant thing.


    And then You see "The Red Lamp" ( I called it "The Red Death" is writing, writing writing... Ooooops The moment is lost forever.


    So, again, anyone...Please, any advice...

    Update software?Firmware?


    My case with 1D mk II once i've update the software for memory card.So far it performs better.

    This is just a shot in the dark, but check to see if long exposure
    noise reduction is on. That *really* slows down writing times.

    I turn of "Add original decision data" this is "20" th custom function...


    Now I have instant preview!
