    Opinions-fair price on used 70-200 2.8 IS

I'm just curious as what the online community feels is a fair purchase price fro a used Canon EF 70-200 F2.8 IS Version 1
I am not likely to buy another lens just yet but I always keep my eye open for potential deals.

The lens I'm considering is from 2007- but he is asking $1500
To me this seems rather steep, 75% of new for a 5 yr old lens. For me I'd think the most I would consider would be $1200

Even then I'm uncertain - I can get a used 100-400L, a new 70-200 IS f4L or for a bit more a new 70-200 2.8L for roughly the same price.

    Opinions?

Does a 70-200 2.8 IS still command such a premium?

There are some on my local Craigslist in the $1200-1400 range.

$1200 is a decent price so long as the newer version doesn’t go on sale again. For a few hundred more, that would get ya the new version. You prolly won't find an older model for less than $1000 that is in great condition.
Words get in the way of what I meant to say.
