Jonathan, this is a stunning photo of the owl--The framing, the fence, the artifact and of course the very sharp and well poised bird all make for a dynamite photo. This is definitely a keeper and a wall hanger. Nice job

I got through my 2000 images in about 15 minutes, cause 1995 of them were garbage, yet you keep producing great shots like this from the trip.

BTW, Thanks for the pitch. The season is almost over now, but I am really considering your idea for next season. Just think, Hbirds in the summer, Bosque in the fall, but what do I do in the winter and spring?

Yep....a female Downy...you're right. Very sharp image. The whites might be a little hot (over-exposed) but otherwise it is really well done. I don't think I have ever seen any bird images with the 135mm f/2 lens.

The 135L is not the ideal tool for the job for birding in general, but will probably be my best bet for feeder work. I don't exactly fit the typical customer profile for that lens. I think most who own it have a decent number of high end lenses the 135L has a very particular niche. For me, I bought it to get the very best image quality and background separation possible on a variety of subjects without spending a huge sum of money. So far I am very pleased! My other lenses are EF-S 18-135, EF 75-300 USM III (should probably sell this one), and I gave my wife the EF-S 55-250, but still use it sometimes.

I really like the woodpecker image and think it may be one of the very best I've managed to take so far.

Encountered a Great Blue Heron this morning in a Park

I glanced out my window to see if there were any birds at the new feeder I put out and this is what I found on the ground staring up at the feeders! I was so shocked that I didn't even realize that I dd not have my lens fully extended! I was just happy that I had the right lens on the camera at the time!
