Joel - Great pose, and I like the vignetting.

Here is a Snowy Owl from yesterday. Flash really helps.

Thanks....most of the vignetting was already there in the RAW image but I helped it along with Nik Color Efex Pro I don't normally try for back lighting but the gray patch of light behind the bird looked like it had a swirl to it that was cool, otherwise I probably would have deleted this one.

A few holes in the broken up ice in the channel have created some of the very few areas with open water for water fowl. Lake Michigan is frozen for as far as I can see, and it has driven some Long Tailed Ducks close to shore. I have never seen a Long Tailed Duck - evidently because they like to hang out way off shore where you can not see them. All taken with a 100-400mm w/ 1.4X at f/8. The first one is the mail and the second one is the female.

They do not seem to like to open there eyes much during the bright day light. She did not seem to mind me being there. I was whistling at her to get here to look at me and open her eyes, but the best I could get was one eye to open. Otherwise they just squint.

I don't know what this is....it's shaped like a blackbird or grackle but the color is odd. I looked through the Peterson Field Guide for Eastern and Central North America and did not see it. Might be an unusual visitor!
