Here's one of the more traditional boring shots. Species is Notophthalmus viridescens (Red Spotted Newt). This little guy is in his terrestrial stage of his life cycle. P.S. my pics seem to lose color when I upload them (e.g., they dull out; this little guy should be a little more brilliant). Know anyway to prevent this from happening?

One possibility is that the color space of the image was not converted to sRGB. If the color space is left as AdobeRGB or something else, then the colors will not be interpreted correctly, because either the embedded profile is missing (as in this case) or because the browser is not color space aware (which can happen even if you include the AdobeRGB color space).
If you use Photoshop, the color space can be changed by clicking Edit->Conver to Profile, then in "Destination Space" select "sRGB IEC61966-2.1". Or you can click File->Save For Web, and make sure "Convert to sRGB" is checked.
