    Image stabilized extender



    It's just a random thought i had the other day. Is it possible to have image stabilization in the extender, therefore negating the need for IS in the lens itself? Or perhaps not an extender, but just a detachable "IS module"? My knowledge in this area is very limited, so it's quite possible that my question is really dumb Thanks in advance to everyone who replies.

    Hi SVETOPOLK. It is certainly not a dumb idea. Tamron recently came out with a patent for one so it might be awhile before you actually see it.

    It would be really great for manual focus super telephotos since you use an extender so frequently anyway. Nikon made a auto focus extender awhile ago that didn

    That would be cool to have adaptable mounts on either side with a chip inside that swaps out info to the right contacts
